Softlines - Fabric Product

I have a wonderful idea for a new product that re-purposes an existing product material, probably being made in China.

It is a fabric product. I believe it would appeal to around 150 million U.S. households, other first world countries, and sold in stores types from Walmart to Macy’s.

With different sizes, designs and colors, people might want to buy more then one. I do not have the knowledge or funds to make and market this product, so I would be content with a percentage. The downside is that this product would not be a candidate for patenting, and it would be easy for other companies to replicate.

About 10 years ago my husband and I purchased a product, and the store gave us a discount on a hugely overpriced ACCESSORY. Ever since then I have been looking high and low for the ACCESSORY item in a different configuration, because I really need it, but after 10 years of looking, I can not find it in the design that I need. It is so basic and so obvious, I don’t understand why I can not find it to buy, and I need several!

I believe there are only a few companies that presently make this ACCESSORY, and I’ve only found one in the US, but they are half-way across the country from me.

The change that needs to be made to this ACCESSORY item to make it into a different product is so tiny, why are they not making it? The product they make right now can last for several years, this new product could also last several years; however, most people would probably want to replace it more often. Also the current product is way overpriced, and general only found specialty stores, whereas this new product would be popular in any department store from Walmart to Dillard’s.
