Infomercial funding is available for the right product with the right company. Most media companies will do a phased roll out of a product in order to get the right combination of price point, pitch and offer. It is always important to test a product small scale before a large roll out.
A good friend of mine who invented a household product was recently able
to do this. He had been selling the product in a few retail outlets and
over the internet with limited success. He approached one of the many infomercial companies
with his product and they thought it showed some promise. Not as a
single product however which is how he had been selling it. They wanted
to sell it as a kit so the price point could be increased to the magic
$19.99 threshold.
The next step was to do a small market test.
Fortunately TV air time is inexpensive right now, cheaper than it has
been in years. He was able to get a sales website built and the air time
for a small test for $5-7k. Testing is extremely important and this
small test was about to open up some big doors.
One of the larger
infomercial product companies saw his spot and wanted to take the
product national in the US and sell in Europe as well. They also wanted
to do a phased roll out to determine demand and not over commit before
proof of success.
Due to the size of the deal, they would end up spending millions on TV advertising, they decided on a royalty arrangement. The tests are moving along and my friend is very happy with the opportunity.
